Indian Ocean Tsunami Response

SEEDS responded with relief operations within 60 hours in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India

SEEDS constructed emergency shelters for 354 families in Nanjappa Nagar area of Hutbay, Little Andaman. It is still actively involved in livelihood restoration, disaster education, mason training, school safety and community based information systems.

Kashmir Earthquake-2005

SEEDS were the first external team to reach Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir with humanitarian relief within 48 hours.

In the 40 days following the relief phase SEEDS constructed 404 intermediate shelters in 40 villages for families identified as most affected by the local government .The shelters were completed a week before the first winter snowfall.

Global Open Learning Forum On Risk Education

GOLFRE was launched at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan. SEEDS in partnership with global universities continue to steer the open learning initiative for risk education.

School Earthquake Safety Initiative, Shimla

Taking lead from GSSI, SEEDS initiated an ambitious schools safety programme in Himachal Pradesh, India that involved 800 schools. The scope was also increased to structural strengthening of school buildings apart from school disaster management plans.
