| In December 2010, SEEDS, along with our local partner LEDeG, was declared ‘CNN-IBN Indian of the Year’ in the Public Service Category for our recovery efforts in Leh after the devastating cloudburst and subsequent flash flood in August, 2010.
The work in Leh represented all that we have learnt from our experiences and from our fellow humanitarian workers around the world. After each emergency, we try our best to promptly reach out to communities in distress; carrying out reconstruction in a manner that is most acceptable, without compromising any of the international standards for quality and accountability. Over the last 10 years, we have responded to 7 major emergencies, finding strength within the local communities and partnering them in starting afresh.
We received constant encouragement and support from many of you. We would like to take this opportunity and thank all those who have supported us in our endeavour. Many of you have voted for us for this award, while many of you joined our team in Leh braving some of the most inhospitable conditions. There are still so many others who donated generously. We share this award with all of you. |
