The vast gap that exists between knowledge and practice must be
bridged. Training and organizing skilled labor, especially
masons, creation of demand for disaster resistant buildings
in the community and risk communication are some of the key
areas of work.
n Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, SEEDS is providing hands
on training to masons for retrofitting and safe construction
practices. They are certified by the government and mobilized
under the Seeds Mason Association banner.
SEEDS also carries out action based research at community
level and sets up systems of informing stakeholders, especially
the vulnerable community, against possible risks and appropriate
risk reduction measures.
