Born in 1994, SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society) had one ultimate goal: protecting the lives and livelihoods of people exposed to disasters. Today, we persist along the same path, continuing to focus on integrating locally based approached into each of our programs. Behind this work lies a diverse SEEDS team consisting of young professionals from various development- related fields. It is governed and advised by a board of eminent academicians and practitioners from international organisations.
Over the years, this team of committed individuals, has reached out to families affected by earthquakes, floods and cyclones; restored schools and homes; and has invariably put its faith in education to build long term resilience of the communities. SEEDS continues to advocate for and work with communities across Asia to build a safer and more sustainable world.
We work with the belief that all communities have the right to dignity, well-being and as much control over their own lives as is consistent with the rights of others. The communities are always at the centre of our decision making process. We work with the most vulnerable, enabling them to enhance their capacity and opportunity to change and address their own needs.
Innovation helps us to evolve solutions that are in sync with the culture and geography of the communities. We also ensure that these customised solutions are suitable and cost effective.
In order to make communities resilient we provide sustainable solutions to their problems. We follow indigenous practices and prefer to do things locally. This enables us to have a long term impact without causing any harm to the environment.
We make sure all our solutions are broken down and communicated with the communities in a way they can understand easily. This equips them to take control of their own well-being and build their resilience.
All our interventions are undertaken with utmost transparency. Our honesty, reliability and openness ensures building of trust within communities towards the intervention. We stand committed to provide the best standards of services and remain accountable to all our stakeholders.
