Our Covid-19 Response

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has left a profound impact on lives and livelihoods, especially on vulnerable and invisible groups such as women, farmers, transgenders, sex-workers, low-skilled workers and migrant labour. To mitigate the devastating effects, at SEEDS, we provided help by augmenting critical supplies to hospitals, stepping up vaccination drives, establishing covid care centres and extending support services with the setup of a toll-free helpline, which aided affected communities, aiding medium and small businesses and facilitating supply of oxygen and other medical services through virtual platforms. We have responded and provided immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation support to more than 850,000 people during the pandemic in over 18 states. Our national vaccination adoption program, Kavach, enabled almost 1 million people from marginalised communities to get doses through awareness campaigns, vaccination camps and local information dissemination.

Help Extended Through

Food and Hygiene Kits

As the country reels under hunger and poverty exacerbated by Covid-19, we reached out to vulnerable communities across 12 states and distributed more than 12.4 million meals. Hygiene kits were also given to more than 155,000 people.

Oxygen Supply

To meet the high demand for oxygen during the second wave, we distributed more than 479 oxygen concentrators and 240 oxygen cylinders to hospitals across 15 states to support the fight against the deadly virus.

Covid and Isolation Care Facilities

The rising cases pushed the public healthcare system to the brink of collapse. As the need for treatment and isolation spiked, we worked with state governments to set up 17 Covid-19 care and isolation facilities with 690 beds.

Vaccination for All Through Kavach

SEEDS as part of its National Vaccine Adoption Program against Covid-19 – Kavach initiated vaccination drives since March 2021, to reach 1 million people across India. The program aims to reach out to the most marginalised sections of communities and making them aware on the importance of vaccination. Our extended team of partners and volunteers’ has vaccinated more than 294,358 people across the country. To read more on efforts click here

Deployment of 75,200 various equipment like fumigation machines, pulse oximeters, N-95 masks, X-ray machines, dialysis machines, radiation imaging equipment, hospital beds, wheel chairs, PPE gears etc.

Accelerating Oxygen Access

SEEDS has set up 8 PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) plants at government hospitals that generate medical-grade oxygen to give resilience to the health system and aid long term capacity building.

Economic Upliftment of MSMEs

Small businesses have been hit hardest by the fall-out of the pandemic. In an effort to boost their recovery, we provided skill upgradation of workers, minimal capital support, and marketing for women-led enterprises among other initiatives.

Paediatric ALS Ambulance

Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance to help save the lives of children during the pandemic was inaugurated by Shri Satyendra Jain, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi, and handed over to Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya.

National Toll-Free Helpline

SEEDS is running a national toll-free helpline to support citizens in meeting their needs with one-on-one support. The helpline number caters to linking individuals to support critical services – oxygen, hospital beds, medicines, ambulance, ration, hygiene kits; counselling session for psycho-social care; and covid-19 home care support and doctor consultations.
