“Initially, when we started working in slum clusters for registering Coronavirus suspected families and individuals, we had no protective equipment. It was a nightmare for all of us as we used to visit slum clusters regularly. Our lives were in danger as we had no idea who all we are coming in contact with. Many of my colleagues were tested positive after several days of working in the communities. This is when we were called to collect PPE kits donated by SEEDS”.
As a responsible citizen, Nidhi, dressed up in PPE kit, has been registering the community members’ names for Covid testing at Dundahera village and many other areas in old Gurugram for months.
Nidhi’s husband is a seasonal worker and their family is solely dependent on the meagre income she earns. On receiving the dry ration kit, she said that her children will be able to enjoy their complete meal after months!
In the times of pandemic, there are many other frontline health warriors like Nidhi who are helping the country fight and survive the pandemic crisis while they are themselves facing challenges and difficulties. Nidhi’s story inspires us all to work selflessly and with the humility.
