‘Kavach’, a national vaccine adoption initiative by SEEDS has been initiated since March 2021 to reach out to over 1 Million people in next 9 months across the country with a focus on Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Telangana, in the initial phase. The program is part of SEEDS’ on going campaign #ShareTheBurden designed to strengthen government efforts in the fight against Covid-19.
To ensure a 100% coverage of all adult population especially those most underprivileged, SEEDS is establishing local ground force of community volunteers to work along side frontline health workers and local health officials. All community volunteers are being trained on best practices for vaccine adoption. Further, context-based language sensitive awareness campaign will be designed for each location using standard guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and State level Government guidelines, if any. A mobile registration ‘kiosk’ along with community awareness campaign to share benefits of the vaccination and the process is being organised.
“I have never been to a school; it was very challenging for me to access vaccination without proper information. I knew the importance of Covid vaccine but could not understand where to start from. But I am happy that SEEDS helped me like a family member as I have now received my first dose of vaccine,” says Sudesh Kumari, a community member from New Lahore Colony, East Delhi.
Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
We have started our vaccination drive in Kosi Kalan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Our volunteers mobilise communities at large explaining them the importance of vaccine. The procedure involves informing them the significance of immunisation, helping to ease their access to the vaccination centres and receive the doses in time.
