Odisha Super Cyclone Documentation

The need

On 29 October, 1999, a super cyclone with wind speeds of over 300 kms per hour made landfall southwest of Paradip. The destruction it left was unprecedented and an enormous humanitarian initiative followed.

How we helped

SEEDS carried out an extensive process documentation of the cyclone. This included the aftermath, damage assessment, administrative response, humanitarian response, lessons learnt and development guidelines for the future.
